About Ali

Trained in the person-centred approach I have a deeply held belief that we each have within us more wisdom to support ourselves through our stuck or difficult places than we can possibly imagine. I love having the opportunity to meet with each unique individual and the chance to work together to unlock that hidden potential which can be the guide to a more fulfilled and authentic life.

I obtained my Postgraduate Diploma in person-centred counselling from the University of Strathclyde in 2001. Previously I obtained my MSW from the University of Edinburgh in 1992 and and a BSC in 1990.  Alongside my academic path I have had a life-long commitment to my own growth and development and am interested in all learning that opens me up to be the most alive, open, and accepting person I can be. I have built up a breadth and depth of experience over the years in working both on my own journey and with others. I am interested and experienced in working with a wide range of issues such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, abuse, bereavement, loss, trauma, sexual identity and relationship difficulties.

Over the last 15 years I have worked primarily  in a University counselling service, with a number of Employee Assistance Programmes, and run my own private practice.
